[Authenticity Check] Spotting the Real Deal: Minoxidil Crystallisation

While there are many counterfeit Minoxidil products on the market, there is one physical characteristic that is extremely difficult to replicate: Crystallisation.

Minoxidil is essentially a chemical powder that is dissolved in solvents (such as alcohol and propylene glycol) to create a liquid solution. Therefore, when the solvent evaporates, the Minoxidil naturally returns to its solid state. This is the most reliable way to verify your product.

You can perform these two simple physical tests at home:

1. The Cap "Crunch" Test (Friction)

This is the most immediate indicator. After using the bottle for a short period, small amounts of liquid residue will naturally accumulate around the rim and inside the cap.

• REAL: As the residue dries, it forms hard, fine crystals. When you twist the cap open or closed, you will feel a gritty resistance and hear a distinct "crunching" or "sand-like" grinding sound.

• FAKE: The residue dries sticky or remains smooth. The cap twists silently with zero friction or resistance.

2. The Surface Drying Test (Visual)

If you want to see the crystals clearly:

• Method: Place a single drop of the liquid on a dark, non-absorbent surface (such as a black plastic lid or a dark table). Let it air dry naturally.

• REAL: Once the alcohol evaporates (usually 1–2 hours), it will leave behind visible white or pale yellow crystalline powder. If you touch it, it feels rough and grainy.

• FAKE: After drying, it typically leaves nothing behind, or simply a greasy/oily stain. No solid powder is formed.
